Informational Guide to Edmonton International Airport (YEG) - Non Official

Edmonton Airport Transportation

Edmonton International Airport offers a wide variety of transportation options to suit every traveler’s needs. Here’s a breakdown of each mode, including location, pricing, main destinations, and tips for a smooth journey.

Buses and Shuttles

Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) Route 747

  • Location: The Route 747 bus stop is just outside the Arrivals level, with clear signage directing you from baggage claim.
  • Schedule: Runs daily from 4:10am to 12:30am, every 30–60 minutes.
  • Price: Flat rate of $5 CAD per one-way trip (cash, Arc card, or Arc ticket). Monthly airport fare cap: $90 CAD. Tickets can be purchased 24/7 at the “Parking and Ground Transportation” counter between doors 5 and 7.
  • Destinations: Connects YEG directly to the Century Park LRT (metro) station in south Edmonton, making it easy to transfer to the city’s light rail network and reach downtown, the University of Alberta, and other major points.

If you plan to use public transport frequently, consider getting an Arc card for easy tap-and-go access and fare capping.

Hotel and Private Shuttles

  • Several hotels and private operators run shuttle services to and from YEG. These typically need to be booked in advance and can be found near the Ground Transportation area.

Confirm shuttle pickup locations and times with your hotel ahead of arrival, especially for late-night flights.

Taxis and Ride-Sharing (VTC)

  • Location: Taxi and ride-share pick-up zones are located just outside the Arrivals level, clearly marked and staffed for assistance.
  • Price: Taxi fares to downtown Edmonton are typically $55–$70 CAD, depending on traffic and exact destination. Ride-share services (Uber, Lyft) are often slightly cheaper or similar in price.
  • Destinations: All areas of Edmonton, including downtown, West Edmonton Mall, Whyte Avenue, and suburbs.

During peak times, booking a ride-share via app can reduce wait times. Always confirm your driver and vehicle before entering.

Metro/Train/Tram

  • Direct Rail: There is no direct LRT (Light Rail Transit) or train station at the airport.
  • Connection: Route 747 bus links YEG to Century Park LRT station, from where you can access the city’s extensive LRT network, reaching downtown, the university, and major attractions.

The LRT is fast and reliable for reaching downtown and key neighborhoods after your bus transfer.

Car Rentals

  • Location: All major car rental agencies (Avis, Budget, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Alamo, Thrifty, Dollar) have desks on the Arrivals level, just steps from baggage claim.
  • Price: Rates start around $45–$60 CAD per day for economy vehicles, but can vary by season and availability.
  • Destinations: Renting a car is ideal for exploring Edmonton’s outskirts, the Rockies, Elk Island National Park, or for business trips requiring flexibility.
